HelpThis page contains some help on using the website. It includes how to navigate, view webpage’s and files, download and save documents from the website and what to do if you have problems accessing pages. Navigation and Viewing of Webpage’s and Files Navigation is by use of a pointing device, such as a mouse. The style of navigation is consistent throughout the website. The majority of content on the website is provided in HTML webpage format viewable through any web browser software. However, there is some content that is provided in non-HTML webpage format. This is so that we can provide the content in exactly the same style and appearance as the original document. Non-HTML webpage formats may include Adobe Acrobat PDFs, Microsoft Word and Excel. PDF files can be read using Adobe Reader software, which is available for many different computer systems including Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Palm. Click here to visit the Adobe website and download Adobe Reader software. Microsoft Word and Excel documents can be read even if you have not bought the commercial Word and Excel programs. Microsoft offers a range of free 'viewer' programs for download, however, these programs are only available for Windows systems. Click here for Word and Excel viewers that are available from Microsoft. Antiword is a free, open-source program that allows Microsoft Word documents to be opened and read on Linux and Mac OS X systems, among others. Click here to download Antiword from the developer's site. Please note, Verde Tec, makes no guarantees or assurances about the quality or security of any software obtained from third party sites and does not endorse or support any third party product or software. Downloading and Saving Files Most files will automatically download to your computer if you click on the link to that file. Depending on your browser settings, you may be asked where you would like to save the document, or it may open automatically within the current browser window. If you would prefer to take more control over the downloading and saving of a document, then you can also right-click (in Windows) or control-click (on a Macintosh) on the link to the document and select the option entitled 'Save Target As', 'Save Link As' or 'Save Linked File As' (depending on your type of browser). The normal save dialog box will appear and you can choose where to store the document on your computer. Help with Problems Accessing Pages This website has been built to allow compatibility with all types of browser on any computer operating system. Although the appearance of the website will vary according to the capabilities of your system, the site itself should still work. If the site does not function properly for you, please send an e-mail to info@verdetec.co.uk or complete the enquiry form on the Contacts page and include your browser and operating system version so that we can investigate. If you click on a link anywhere on the site and get an error message saying that the page you were looking for cannot be found, please send an e-mail to info@verdetec.co.uk or complete the enquiry form on the Contacts page to let us know where the original link was so that we can investigate the problem and fix it. There may be occasions when the internet itself is congested and is particularly slow displaying pages. This is outside the control of Verde Tec, but should be an infrequent occurrence.
AccessibilityIt is the intention of Verde Tec to make the website usable and accessible to all and this page details some of the measures taken. The website's objective is to conform to the guidelines for UK government websites, which support the W3C's web content accessibility guidelines and every attempt to comply with them has been made. Click here to see W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This is specifically with regard to Priority 1 guidelines and, where possible, Priority 2 guidelines. The elements covered by the Priority 3 guidelines are not, in most cases used by the website, however, as the website develops such functions will aim to be complied with. Alternative Text All images on this site are accompanied by a brief alternative text which where appropriate identifies an image or its function. This alternative text (alt-text) is generally only visible when the browser's automatic image loading feature is turned off. This means that when an image is conveying important information its content is described with an alternative text. If an image is used for decorative purposes only, the text attribute for the image will be left blank. Links Any text links are written so that they make sense when read out of context. PDFs Most Adobe© Acrobat© Portable Document Format (PDF) files on this site are tagged to allow basic accessibility. For more information about PDF accessibility, refer to the Adobe website accessibility section. Click here to see the Adobe website accessibility section. For more help with Acrobat files generally and a link to download Acrobat Reader see the site help page. Text The standard font used throughout the site is Arial for easy legibility. The text on this website has been styled using a non-fixed value in a style sheet and this means that users can easily change the text size using their browser settings. Wherever possible, live text instead of graphics has been used to reduce the download time of pages and increase your control. Pages are designed so that they are without horizontal scrollbars when they are viewed at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels.
